The Latest Notes
This means that you can now sign in to your school NoteFlight account and access an entire library of Full Concert Band pieces as well as another library of a whole bunch of Pop Tunes! You can see the music for these pieces, you can listen to NoteFlight play the music, you can download a real band playing many of the pieces and you can see YOUR part for the music and you can play along! If your students are in High School Band they are well on their way to understanding how to access NoteFlight. These libraries are new for them though. It is very exciting that NoteFlight has given us this access! If you have a student in grades 5th-8th grade and your student has access to a computer/phone/tablet with internet access they can also get access to our School NoteFlight for free! If you would like access for them email Mr. Shimmons and he will get your student set up! There is a Youtube video to walk you through how to access the libraries. You will find the link to that video at the bottom of this post! If you are not sure what NoteFlight even is then here is the short version - NoteFlight is an online music notation app that is run by one of the biggest music publishers in America! This means they have access to a ton of music - pop music, band music, jazz, choir and the list goes on and on. Kids can create their own music using NoteFlight quickly and easily but the new access to these libraries give the students new capabilities never before possible. For instance, a student can find the music for a piece of music like "Happy" by Pharrell Williams and listen to it while they see the music! Then they can edit that music by adding a part for the instrument they play and copying the melody line over into their instrument. Now the student has this piece arranged for their instrument and they can play along! They can edit it so if there are notes that are too high they can lower them. If something is too difficult they can make it easier! Students can explore new pieces of music that we could possibly perform in our band concert! They could even take a piece of music and arrange it for their instrument and a few of their friends! Who WOULDN'T want to play along to A Charlie Brown Christmas!?!?!? Click this link - YouTube Video - that gives you an overview of what we now have available to the students!

The trombone part was transposed down one step too far. When transposing octaves, you can simply hit ctrl+down (or for mac, command+down).
